Woven Leather Jute Bench (Target re-make!) // Blanche & Thirteenth

Woven Leather Jute Bench (Target re-make!) // Blanche & ThirteenthTarget has a way of enlightening you* to the necessity of all of those purchases that would have, an hour prior, seemed unnecessary.  I’m talking about that notepad with the cool script and clever saying, that is sure to increase your productivity because you’ll want to use it more.  Or, the kerchief that’ll doll up a simple tee or sweater, and will therefore single-handedly make your week-day dressing easier.   I mean, both of those are game changing.  Totally need them.

Then, sometimes, Target shows you exactly what you do need, and have already spent too many hours searching for.  That was the case with this bench, which is something that I was having a hard time finding an affordable option for.  I wanted one that was jute or wicker, and with a bit of detail and personality.  This target bench was one of those things (jute), and with a little work, easily became both of them.

See the steps that I took below…

*Please say this is a shared thing, and that I am not alone.  Otherwise, should I be seeing someone for this? I kid. (but really, let me know what you think.)

After seeing this stool in one of my favorite designers projects, I knew I wanted to add some form of weaving to the bench.  I had some leftover leather from this project (another Target re-make…), which seemed like the perfect material to contrast the jute.  It was a simple two-step process of cutting the leather and weaving it through the jute, and took no more than an hour.
